Daphne Barness elected as SGA officer at Upper Iowa University

Daphne Barness of Ossian, Iowa, and a student at Upper Iowa University, has been elected as the Secretary of UIU's Student Government Association for the 2012-2013 academic school year.

The new officers represent all UIU academic units including the Andres School of Education and the Divisions of Business, Math and Science, and Liberal Arts.

Barness expressed excitement for the position stating, "I believe in UIU, and I want to watch it grow. I want to be there for every step."

New officers represent the student body to faculty and administration, and they help voice student opinions and concerns. SGA leadership also works on service projects, sits on University committees, and is represented on the UIU Board of Trustees.
