2014 Apr 22

Upper Iowa University recently held its 29th annual Scholarships and Awards Recognition Banquet and awarded 122 scholarships to students across the University. Of those, 98 scholarships were bestowed on UIU students attending classes in Fayette and another 24 were awarded to students who take courses through other UIU locations. Recipients were selected by the UIU Honors and Awards Committee and the University academic divisions.

Matthew Beatty was awarded the The Stuart and Roberta Dunkel Annual Scholarship. This award is given by Stuart ’64 and Roberta Dunkel to a student with a GPA of 3.2 or higher who is majoring in education and will begin student teaching in the fall or spring semester of the next academic year. Preference is given to students who plan to work in the United States or for a United States entity after graduation. The cash award is to be used by the student for related expenses such as travel or other living expenses. If there are no eligible students in education, a student may be selected first from the business disciplines, and next from the field of math or one of the natural science disciplines, commencing an internship during the next academic year..
