Upper Iowa University student artwork chosen for Cedar Valley Biennial exhibition
Hortonville, Wisconsin, and Volga, Manchester, New Hampton, Fayette, and Hawkeye, Iowa, artwork selected
Fayette, IA (11/29/2017) — Six Upper Iowa University (UIU) students were recently chosen by juror Jane Gilmore, an Iowa artist and professor emeritus from Mount Mercy University, to showcase their artwork at the Cedar Valley Biennial exhibition in Waterloo, Iowa, Tuesday, December 5, 2017 - Sunday, February 11, 2018. The 2017-18 event will be held in the Law Court Theater Gallery at Waterloo Center for the Arts.
The honored UIU students are Ashley Althoff, senior art major from Volga, Iowa; Katie Brooks, senior art major from Manchester, Iowa; Mitchell Erlandson, senior art major from New Hampton, Iowa; Jordyn Brennan, sophomore art major from Hortonville, Wisconsin; Elijah Solheim, senior communication studies major from Fayette, Iowa; Teresa Hageman, junior graphic design major from Hawkeye, Iowa.
The Cedar Valley Biennial exhibition takes place every two years and the upcoming show will include artwork from UIU, University of Northern Iowa, Hawkeye Community College and Wartburg College. The opening reception will be held from 6-8 p.m. at Waterloo Center for the Arts Tuesday, December 5. The reception will include an awards ceremony and remarks by the juror at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Sponsors for the Cedar Valley Biennial include the Waterloo Center for the Arts, Friends of the Art Center, University Book and Supply and the participating institutions. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., Tuesday - Saturday, and 1-5 p.m. Sunday. The Gallery is closed Mondays.
