Upper Iowa University surpasses Giving Day goals
Fayette, IA (04/30/2018) — The Upper Iowa University (UIU) community once again beat the clock and surpassed its Giving Day goals. More than 550 donors contributed $95,688 over 1,857 minutes Wednesday, April 25, through Thursday, April 26, as part of UIU's second annual event. Even the end of the event couldn't dampen the spirit of giving as people donated an additional $2,500 after Thursday evening.
"We are once again greatly appreciative of the overwhelming support shown by our alumni, faculty, staff, students, and other friends and family of the University, who helped make our second Giving Day such a tremendous success," UIU Director of Annual Giving Naomi Aziz said. "We set a new benchmark with nearly 200 more donors than our inaugural event. The tradition of support by the Peacock family is simply amazing."
The 2018 Giving Day initiative included more than 10 unique giving challenges for various UIU programs, all of which directly impact UIU students. As challenges were achieved, donor gifts ranging from $1,500 to $25,000 were unlocked, including a $25,000 matching gift once UIU received contributions from all 50 states.
Aziz noted that last year's inaugural Giving Day saw over 360 donors and contributions of $81,215. This year's goal was for 500 UIU supporters to step forward and donate.
