Upper Iowa University students, faculty present at Academy of Science annual meeting

Seven students from Upper Iowa University presented their research projects at the Iowa Academy of Science annual meeting in Mason City recently. Undergraduate research allows students to apply their scientific knowledge to an area of their interest while gaining relevant employment skills. The student projects were completed under the advisement of Dr. Jennifer Stoffel, Dr. Katherine McCarville and Dr. Aaron Haines. Poster or oral presentations were also given by Upper Iowa faculty Barb Ehlers, Dr. Katherine McCarville and Dr. Aaron Haines. Breina Burgin, an alumna, was also at the Academy meeting to present her current masters research at Iowa State University, Ames. Students presenting their work included:

Local residents inducted into Alpha Chi Honor Society

A few local students attending Upper Iowa University were recently inducted into Alpha Chi, a member of the Association of College Honor societies, a group of 67 societies meeting rigorous standards regarding student membership and governance. Alpha Chi is one of the two major ACHS members based on scholarly achievement of juniors and seniors from all fields. The following local resdients were inducted:
